Centauri Audio was originally established by Graeme Goodacre in the mid 1970s at Gunnedah, NSW, building PA equipment for his brother's band. This quickly expanded to repair services for local musicians as well as full sound & lighting production.

The early 1980s saw a move to Tamworth, expanding the repair workshop & production capabilities and becoming involved in Tamworth's annual Country Music Festival, as well as regularly working with a number of the local rock bands. A number of innovative speaker cabinet designs were produced for various customers during this period.

In 2007, a move to Newcastle saw the establishment of a repair workshop in Waratah. Following the successful development of a new range of speaker cabinets, the production side was relaunched and quickly became known for high quality of sound.

Due to the popularity of repair work becoming too much for a one man operation, the repair workshop was closed in early 2020, and relocated to Custom Audio in Mayfield. This allows for further development work to continually improve production standards for clients.
